According to the technical specification, the ethanol content of the E85 fuel can range from 70 to 85 vol-%. In Finland however the ethanol content is typically between 82 and 83 vol-%. E85 is produced of domestic food industry, commercial and household bio-waste.
E85 has been developed for challenging weather conditions in Nordics and therefore it also contains special gasoline components which improve cold start. E85 fuel is manufactured separately for summer and winter conditions. The volatility of winter grade i.e. the vapor pressure is higher than the summer grade.
